Top 5 Pie Recipes For Holiday

Howdy! I hope you had a great early December so far and that things are working out just the way you want them to! We continue to emphasis the Christmas topic with more recipes for your already abundant table. If you already took a look at my previous entry about holiday recipes then I believe you are ready to go through with this one. The only real reason I decided to go for another dessert round is because, well, I very much enjoy dessert, my folks too! I can also recommend a few activities to pass the time while the pie is baking! You can play some games on your phone, try Clash Royale, it’s super fun and I’ve been playing it for a month now, the leader board is a crazy free for all fight and that only makes things funnier. I was actually getting my bottom kicked at some point and decided to look for one of those Clash Royale hack no survey thingies, but to no avail, I still got a good beating and lost the match.

If you have already chose your Christmas Dinner desserts I suggest you revise that silly list of yours as some of these pies left my mouth literally drooling. By chance you might have already cooked this before, in which case you are in luck as they will be far easier to bake a second time! Here it is, my top 5 pie recipes for holiday, hope I didn’t screw things up.

Cranberry Pie

The age old recipe of the cranberry pie, baked by house wives ever since the 50’s! Grab a big bowl, grab your cranberry, sugar, butter and mashed nuts and stir them together. Preheat the oven at 400 C to 450 C maximum. Make your pie crust using your flour and eggs and pour the filling in the crust. The reason I’m not getting into the crust baking part is because I lack the knowledge to cook an edible crust. I’m sorry. Now, bake the pie for 45 to 50 minutes until the crust gets a brown-golidsh color, pull it out and let the pie cool for at least 20 minutes before consuming. You don’t want to burn your tongue.

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 spoon of sugar
  • 20 oz cranberries
  • two spoons of melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 oz mashed nuts

Mincemeat Pie

This is probably the one pie that hits closest to a Christmas recipe on this list. It goes same as before, a big bowl in which to mix your minced meat, chopped apple and pear (the pear is a personal choice but it works really well), after mixing add your brown sugar to the mix and let it rest while you make the crust. Preheat the oven at 450 C, add your mix to the crust and sprinkle the lemon juice over your pie. Cook for 50 to 55 minutes and cool the pie down on a rack.

Ingredients :

  • 15 oz minced meat (canned or not, up to you)
  • 1 chopped apple
  • 1 chopped pear
  • 1/2 packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tea spoon of salt
  • half a lemon
  • 1 egg

Apple Pie

Things don’t change much here, cut all your apples in reasonable sized shapes, mix together with sugar and butter then let it rest on the side for 10 minutes. Bake your crust with eggs, sugar, butter, salt and the 1 oz of flour. Carefully outline the shape of your crust and add your filling to it. Bake at 425 C for no longer than 40 – 50 minutes, as soon as it’s done, pull it out and wait for it to cool.

Ingredients :

  • 8 to 10 apples
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • half a stick of butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 oz flour

Sweet Cherry Pie

sweet cherry pie recipe

I love cherry flavored food, sweets … even drinks! Cherry has a sweet-sour taste that can’t be replaced, that’s why I definitely want to include this recipe here. Preheat the oven at 420 C, we try to take things slowly with this one. Start by adding sugar to your cherries, add milk to the mix and put it aside. It’s time to take crust into our hands, I like my crust crunchier than usual for the cherry pie, but you do as you wish. Once the crunchy crust is in the house, fill it with your cherry mix, slowly, you don’t want to scare the pie away! Bake in the oven for 40-ish minutes, or 1 hour at most for a crunchier crust. Same as before, cool it down and consume with the wrath of a thousand rhinos.

Ingredients :

  • 20 oz cherries
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 eggs (again)
  • 1/4 stick of butter
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 oz flour
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar

Raspberry Cream Pie

I plan on ending this list with a strong pie, nothing beats the Raspberry Cream Pie! Please note that you won’t be making any raspberry cream, it is simple called that way because of the whipped cream. If you are wondering, the photo I chose to feature is one of my failed pies. I really thought I was doing well but the oven had a different opinion, I let the dough rest one hour too much! Start up your oven and preheat it at 400 C.

Now for the grand finale, grab your raspberries, the sugar and the butter and give them a good ol’ beating (stir them together) until you get a pink creamy paste. Cook or buy a pie crust and fill it all with your raspberry cream and bake in the preheated oven for about 50 minutes. After the pie has cooled down I suggest you grab a tube of whipped cream and spread it on top of the pie, the cherry on the cake if you will!

Ingredients :

  • 15 oz raspberries
  • 1/2 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 1/2 cups of flour
  • whipped cream
